Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi received a sacred shawl and cap (Fez) from the family of Mahmood-ul-Hassan during his visit to India, reports 24brussels.

A video shared by Hafiz Zia Ahmad, the Director of Public Communication for Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, captured the moment when Muttaqi was presented with the shawl and cap. In his post on X, Ahmad stated, “In India from the family of Sheikh-ul-Hind Maulana Mahmud Hasan, a piece of the shawl of Sheikh-ul-Hind and one of his handcaps were presented to the Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi as a token of honour and blessing.”

During his visit, Muttaqi was received warmly at Darul Uloom Deoband on Saturday. In an exclusive interview, he underscored the promising future of India-Afghanistan relations and expressed gratitude for the welcoming reception from the Ulema and local populace. “The journey has been very good so far. Not just the people of Darul Uloom, but all the people of the area have come here. I am grateful to them for the warm welcome they extended to me. I am thankful to the Ulema of Deoband and the people of the area for this warm welcome. The future of India-Afghanistan relations seems very bright,” he stated.

Earlier on October 10, India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar engaged in detailed discussions with Muttaqi, addressing a range of mutual interests and significant regional developments. The joint statement reiterated India’s long-standing friendship with the Afghan people, highlighting the deep cultural and historical ties that unite the two nations.
