“News circulating is incorrect”: Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal clarifies on NDA seat-sharing arrangement for upcoming elections
Bihar Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Dilip Jaiswal has clarified that the seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming elections will be jointly announced by the leaders of the five parties in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), reports 24brussels.
Jaiswal dismissed speculation circulating on social media regarding the arrangement, stating that the final decision rests with the top leadership of the NDA. He reaffirmed the central leadership’s role in making the official announcement on seat-sharing, thus quelling rumors and misinformation.
In a statement to the media, Jaiswal emphasized that “the news circulating is incorrect because the announcement will be made by us.” He insisted that matters are being determined by the central leadership and that the NDA has already made significant progress regarding unity within the alliance. He remarked, “Everything in the NDA is being decided by the central leadership. All this information will be provided by the NDA itself… The NDA has moved forward much earlier with rock-solid unity.”
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary indicated that discussions about seat-sharing are nearing completion, assuring that all internal deliberations are ongoing and will soon be disclosed. He stated, “Discussions with all parties are almost nearing completion… No one is upset. Everyone has put forward their respective points… Everyone is happy,” he told ANI.
The electoral contest in Bihar is shaping up as a direct rivalry between the ruling NDA and the Mahagathbandhan, led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). The NDA currently holds 131 seats in the 243-member Bihar Assembly, while the Mahagathbandhan holds 111 seats.
The Election Commission has announced the schedule for the Bihar Assembly elections, with polling for the 243 Assembly seats set for November 6 and November 11, and counting scheduled for November 14.
