Punjab: BSF recovers pistol parts, Pakistan-made ammunition from border areas of Tarn Taran
Tarn Taran (Punjab) — In a significant development amid ongoing efforts to combat cross-border smuggling, the Border Security Force (BSF) has recovered pistol parts and live rounds in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, reports 24brussels. On Monday evening, during a search operation along the Tarn Taran border, BSF personnel discovered a plastic bottle containing the slide assembly of a pistol near Naushera Dhalla village. The bottle was wrapped in yellow adhesive tape with a metal wire loop, suggesting a drop from a drone.
The following morning, while tracking potential drone activity, BSF troops seized a packet containing 75 live rounds of 9 mm caliber from a farmland adjacent to Rajoke village. The ammunition bore stamps from the Pakistan Ordnance Factory, affirming the link to Pakistan-sponsored groups attempting to orchestrate terror operations within Indian territory.
Intelligence inputs and the decisive actions of BSF personnel have once more disrupted the illicit activities of a Pakistani terror syndicate operating across the border. Earlier, on October 3, a coordinated operation between the BSF and Punjab Police resulted in the arrest of two criminals and the recovery of two pistols and magazines from the location of a house in Gendhu Kilcha village, Ferozepur district. This operation was initiated based on specific intelligence received by the BSF’s intelligence wing, showcasing their commitment to border security.
The swift actions of the BSF and Punjab Police underline their determination to enhance peace and security in the region. Ongoing investigations are probing potential links to broader criminal or terrorist networks. Additionally, on October 1, BSF personnel thwarted smuggling attempts in Amritsar and Tarn Taran, seizing 3.165 kg of ICE drug during a search near Burj village, Amritsar. In a statement on X, the BSF noted, “In a major blow to cross-border narco-terror, alert BSF troops foiled smuggling bids in Amritsar & Tarn Taran.” They further detailed, “Acting on intelligence, BSF launched a search near Burj village and seized 3.165 kg of ICE drug. In Tarn Taran, based on BSF intelligence, recovery of a DJI Mavic 4 Pro drone carrying 580 g of heroin was made from a field near Dal village.”
