PM Modi congratulates Israeli PM Netanyahu on progress under Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the progress made under US President Donald Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan during a phone call on October 10, 2025, reports 24brussels. Modi stated that he welcomes the agreement on the release of hostages and increased humanitarian assistance for the people of Gaza, reaffirming that terrorism in any form is unacceptable globally.

Netanyahu’s office confirmed the conversation, stating that Modi conveyed his congratulations regarding the agreement achieved for the hostages’ release. This development comes amid international efforts to establish a lasting peace in the Middle East.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also expressed his support for the progress made, emphasizing its importance not just for the region but for global stability. He acknowledged the potential impact of peace efforts on worldwide security, commending the US for its diplomatic leadership while hoping for an end to civilian suffering in Gaza.

Both French President Emmanuel Macron and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen welcomed the ceasefire agreement and the release of hostages, praising the diplomatic negotiations that led to this breakthrough. Macron highlighted hopes for the hostages and Palestinians, urging all parties to adhere to the agreement’s terms.

Responding to the international call for peace, Modi reiterated India’s support for the deal and the leadership demonstrated by Netanyahu. He underscored the significance of a political solution based on the two-state framework, aimed at establishing lasting peace.

Israel’s Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, expressed gratitude for India’s backing of the deal, while earlier, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres commended the negotiations facilitated by the US, Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, urging compliance with the agreement’s stipulations.

Qatar’s Prime Minister Majed Al Ansari reported that all provisions and implementation mechanisms for the first phase of the ceasefire agreement had been successfully reached. The agreement involves the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners alongside humanitarian support.

In a statement on Telegram, Hamas described the agreement as a mutual understanding concerning the end of hostilities, a prisoner exchange, and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. The statement urged international parties to ensure Israel’s adherence to the agreement.
