Mongolian President visits Akshardham temple in Delhi

Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh visited the Swaminarayan Akshardham temple in New Delhi on October 15 during his official trip to India, reports 24brussels.

Accompanied by Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh and other officials, President Khurelsukh received a traditional welcome at the temple, where he offered prayers and conducted the sacred abhishek of Shri Neelkanth Varni, invoking peace and harmony for both nations.

During the visit, he was presented with a letter of blessings from Mahant Swami Maharaj, who lauded the President’s leadership in promoting peace and unity in Mongolia. Reflecting on the historical ties between India and Mongolia, Khurelsukh remarked, “The bond between the people of India, serene and peaceful like the flow of the Ganges River, and the people of Mongolia, whose hearts are as vast as the Mongolian steppes, traces its origins back to the time of the Hunnu Empire.”

The President was also gifted a replica of the mandir and reiterated the importance of the India-Mongolia friendship during his remarks. He expressed delight in visiting the temple, acknowledging its cultural and spiritual significance, and stating, “It is truly a temple that is a symbol and expression of the Indian people’s deep spirituality.”

In expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, Khurelsukh emphasized that such gestures foster the cultural ties between the two nations. He admired Akshardham Mandir’s architectural grandeur, noting the intricate carvings and engaging in spiritual discussions with temple representatives.

President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh is in New Delhi for a four-day state visit that includes meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to enhance bilateral cooperation for the coming decade. The President also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat and planted a sapling as part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative with PM Modi.
