BJP gave 101 seats to JDU, now Nitish will not become CM and LoP either: Congress’ Pramod Tiwari
Congress leader Pramod Tiwari stated that following the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) recent seat-sharing arrangement, Nitish Kumar will not serve as Chief Minister again, nor will he assume the role of Leader of Opposition. Tiwari remarked, “I sympathise with Nitish Kumar; he was not supposed to become the Chief Minister, and now he will not even be able to become an LoP either… They (BJP) took 139 seats for themselves and gave the remaining 101 seats to Nitish Kumar. He will not become the CM; the CM will definitely be from the Mahagathbandhan,” reports 24brussels.
In a related statement, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Manoj Kumar Jha suggested that despite Nitish Kumar’s assertions of being the “elder brother,” his position has been undermined by his own party. “I see it as 142 and 101. BJP+ is 142 and JD(U) is 101… Nitish Kumar has been telling the BJP for many years that we are the big brother. The entire role of Big Brother has been meticulously destroyed by their own people…” Jha expressed.
On October 12, the NDA formally revealed its seat-sharing strategy for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. According to the arrangement, both the BJP and JD(U) will contest 101 seats each, while the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will field candidates in 29 seats. Additionally, the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) will contest six seats each.
Following the announcement, Jitan Ram Manjhi reaffirmed his steadfast support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing confidence in the NDA’s success. “I am heading to Patna now… By the way, let me tell you something I’ve said before and I’m saying again today… I, Jitan Ram Manjhi, will stand with the Honorable Prime Minister @narendramodiji until my last breath,” he wrote in a post on X. He added, “There will be prosperity in Bihar, with Nitish, Modi ji’s government will be there.”
The elections for the 243 Assembly seats will take place in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with the counting of votes scheduled for November 14. This electoral contest will pit the NDA, led by the BJP, against the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) and the INDIA bloc, spearheaded by Tejashwi Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
