During a Special Briefing on cultural exchange earlier that day, MEA Secretary (East) P Kumaran announced a signed cultural exchange programme as part of a memorandum of understanding established during the visit. Kumaran revealed plans for an ICCR youth orientation trip, which will facilitate Mongolian students’ visits to India.
Moreover, Kumaran mentioned Mongolian interest in establishing direct flights between the two nations. He indicated that the feasibility of operations has been a challenge, but noted a Mongolian airline’s interest in conducting chartered flights to India, a suggestion raised by President Ukhnaa to Prime Minister Modi. Kumaran stated that discussions about destinations and operational details would be forthcoming.
He expressed optimism about the recent introduction of gratis e-visas for Mongolian citizens, which, combined with Mongolia’s reciprocal visa facilitation, could enhance the viability of such flight operations. However, he urged caution, stating, “But it is still early days. We will see how it goes.”
