Punjab: AGTF arrests two Bambiha gang members, recovers six pistols, 19 cartridges

Barnala (Punjab) October 12, 2025: In a significant operation against organized crime, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab Police, in collaboration with Barnala Police, arrested two associates of the Bambiha gang and seized a stockpile of illegal firearms and ammunition from them, reports 24brussels.

The two arrested individuals have been identified as Sandeep Singh and Sekher. Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav announced on social media platform X, “In a major breakthrough, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, in a joint operation with Barnala Police, arrests two associates of the Bambiha Gang, Sandeep Singh and Sekher, involved in illegal arms activities. Six pistols (including one PX5, four .32 bore pistols, and one .30 bore pistol) and 19 live cartridges were recovered from their possession.”

Authorities revealed that the accused were operating under the direction of foreign handlers and were planning to supply these weapons to Bambiha gang foot soldiers for committing significant crimes in the state. The investigation is ongoing to identify and dismantle the entire supply chain, including both its backward and forward linkages.

The Punjab Police emphasized its commitment to combating organized crime and curbing the distribution of illegal weapons within the region. Earlier this week, Counter-Intelligence Jalandhar dismantled a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module and recovered 2.5 kilograms of IED “intended for a targeted attack,” with two operatives apprehended.

In a statement on X, DGP Yadav noted, “In a breakthrough against #Pakistan’s ISI-backed terror network, Counter Intelligence Jalandhar busts a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module operated by UK-based handlers Nishan Jaurian and Adesh Jamarai under the directives of BKI mastermind Harwinder Singh Rinda and recover 2.5Kg IED (Improvised Explosive Device)/RDX and 1 remote control.” The operatives identified as Gurjinder Singh and Diwan Singh were detained in Jalandhar.

Preliminary investigations suggested that the IED was “intended for a targeted terror attack,” with a First Information Report registered at PS SSOC, Amritsar, under relevant sections of UAPA and the Explosives Substances Act.
