Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba, Dies at 88
The Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, in Havana, at the age of 88, reports 24brussels.
President Miguel Díaz-Canel expressed condolences on social media, hailing Cabrisas as “an exemplary man who dedicated his entire life to the Revolution.” The President extended his sympathies to Cabrisas’s family and friends, underscoring the deep loss felt across the nation.
Cabrisas Ruiz, honored as a Labor Hero of the Republic of Cuba, held the position of Minister of Domestic Trade and Foreign Investment until May 2024. His extensive political career included leadership of various ministries and representation of Cuba in international forums, bolstering the country’s economic and financial relations as co-chair of Intergovernmental Commissions.
In addition to serving as deputy prime minister since 2019, his political influence was evident as a member of the Party’s Central Committee and a deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power.
Dr. Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Party’s Central Committee, acknowledged the Cuban people’s grief over Cabrisas’s passing, recalling his unwavering dedication and loyalty to the Party and the Revolution.
