President Trump to Visit UK Later This Year Amid Scheduling Conflicts

A private meeting between President Trump and King Charles III will not take place this summer due to conflicting schedules, even though the King initially extended an invitation, reports 24brussels.

A Buckingham Palace aide confirmed to the media that “His Majesty has known President Trump for many years and looks forward to hosting him and the First Lady later this year.”

During a session in the House of Commons on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner expressed the government’s satisfaction regarding the U.S. president’s upcoming second state visit.

Trump previously attended a state visit in 2019 during his first term, where he met the late Queen Elizabeth, sparking significant protests at that time.

This upcoming occasion is expected to feature traditional pomp and pageantry, typically including a banquet dinner. Due to ongoing refurbishment at Buckingham Palace, all state visits will now be held at Windsor Castle.

In April, Trump mentioned that the UK was “setting a date for September,” but the exact dates remain unconfirmed.

Reports from The Times indicate that Labour leader Keir Starmer has accelerated plans for the state visit, contrary to the King’s preference for an earlier informal meeting. This decision might stem from concerns regarding Trump’s stated desire to annex Canada. However, the Prime Minister’s official spokesperson denied any claims that Starmer overruled the King’s scheduling decisions.
