Putin Questions Nobel Peace Prize Integrity While Supported Trump’s Peace Efforts

Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized the Nobel Peace Prize’s credibility, stating that the committee has previously honored individuals who have contributed little to peace, reports 24brussels.

Despite his ongoing military campaign in Ukraine and an international warrant for his arrest due to alleged war crimes, Putin acknowledged former U.S. President Donald Trump, claiming he is “really doing a lot to solve crises that have lasted years, in some cases decades.”

Putin emphasized Trump’s aspiration for peace in Ukraine, citing “the most striking example” of his efforts as the recent developments in the Middle East.

On Wednesday, Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had finalized the first phase of a deal aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza. Following this, Israel declared a ceasefire had come into effect in the besieged enclave.

This latest announcement is part of several conflicts that Trump has claimed to have helped resolve during his second term in office, though fact-checking by The Associated Press has contested many of these assertions as inaccurate.

Putin remarked, “If Donald succeeds in accomplishing everything he’s aiming for, everything he’s talked about and trying to do, it will be a historic moment.”
