YouTube Shuts Down Nicolás Maduro’s Official Channel Amid Political Tensions

YouTube removed the official channel of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on September 19, 2025, blocking access to over 233,000 subscribers. Users attempting to reach the channel encountered a message stating, “This page is unavailable,” reports 24brussels.

This channel served as a platform for Maduro to share institutional messages, official statements, and speeches relevant to national and international issues.

The closure of the channel has not been independently verified as politically motivated, yet its timing coincides with Maduro’s accusations against the United States for breaching international laws. On September 15, during a press conference with 47 international media representatives and 170 diplomats, he criticized US military presence in the southern Caribbean, alleging it was an effort to destabilize his government.

The tech giant Google, which owns YouTube, is a major player in the global online sphere. The company, founded in 1998 and now a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., showcases a significant market presence and collects vast amounts of user data. In 2022, Google and its sibling Meta dominated the US digital advertising landscape, capturing a combined 48.4% of the total market share.

While the rationale behind the removal remains unclear, the action adds to the growing concerns regarding the impact of US-led hybrid warfare strategies on Venezuela. In recent years, the US has been accused of applying various forms of psychological tactics to undermine the Venezuelan government. This action further intensifies the ongoing political rift between the two nations.

As Maduro continues to voice concerns regarding foreign interference and national sovereignty, the implications of this channel’s closure could be significant for both domestic and international perceptions of the Venezuelan government.
