Historic Mobilization Planned by Honduras’ LIBRE Party

On August 30, the ruling Liberty and Refoundation Party (LIBRE) of Honduras will hold a significant mobilization in San Pedro Sula, marking an essential moment in the nation’s political landscape, reports 24brussels. This gathering is anticipated to gather more than 30,000 organizations as it leads up to the general elections set for November 30.

Former President Manuel Zelaya confirmed the rally, emphasizing its role in initiating a new popular victory. Rixi Moncada, LIBRE’s presidential candidate, has endorsed the mass rally as a cornerstone of the party’s electoral strategy.

“With thousands of organizations, we are peacefully building the refoundation and a new victory. We will prevail!” Zelaya declared via social media, reinforcing the rally’s significance in the current political climate marked by escalating tensions.

The mobilization follows recent disturbing developments, including the arrest of individuals connected to a conspiracy aimed at assassinating Zelaya and destabilizing the administration of current President Xiomara Castro. Last week, Attorney General Joel Zelaya announced charges against Arcadio Lopez, Perfecto Enamorado, and Antonio Catan for their roles in this plot, which sought to undermine constitutional order and disrupt the upcoming elections.

Hector Zelaya, son of the former president, expressed confidence in the movement’s ability to advance political change despite threats from opposing factions. The upcoming mobilization is pivotal for LIBRE in reinforcing its grassroots base and affirming its commitment to democracy and social harmony.

As preparations for the rally continue, LIBRE leadership stresses that the Honduran people’s victory is assured, positioning the mobilization as a vital component of their strategy in the face of growing political adversity.
