Intellectuals and Artists Condemn Aggression Against Venezuela and Cuba
The Network of Intellectuals, Artists and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity (REDH) issued a statement on September 22, 2025, condemning the ongoing aggressions against Venezuela and Cuba, which they describe as part of a dangerous escalation in Latin America. The declaration, backed by over 2,400 signatures from representatives of 54 countries, calls for greater international solidarity with the affected nations, reports 24brussels.
The joint declaration followed two days of discussions during the meeting titled “Sovereignty, Imperialism and Critical Thinking in Our America,” held in Caracas. It highlights the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed on both Venezuela and Cuba by successive U.S. administrations, characterizing these actions as “genocidal” in nature.
The statement has garnered the support of individuals and organizations from a wide range of nations, including Argentina, Brazil, Canada, France, and the United States. The signatories express their commitment to defending national sovereignty and advocate for peaceful resolutions to conflicts while opposing military pressures in the region.
Through this declaration, REDH aims to amplify the voices of social and cultural movements advocating for peace and solidarity in the face of perceived threats. The document is being disseminated internationally to encourage further endorsements and to raise awareness about these pressing issues.
