Iran Warns of Severe Consequences for Caribbean Peace Amid U.S. Threats

On August 21, 2025, Iran strongly condemned the United States for its threats against Venezuela’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Iran’s Foreign Ministry highlighted the “dangerous effects and consequences” of the U.S.’s aggressive actions, asserting that they pose a significant risk to peace and stability in the Caribbean region, reports 24brussels.

The Iranian government characterized these actions as part of a broader pattern of illegal intervention by the U.S. against Venezuela, explicitly violating the United Nations Charter’s principles, particularly Article 2, Paragraph 4, which prohibits the use of force against sovereign states.

“These measures are a clear indication of the growing contempt of the U.S. ruling elite for the fundamental norms of international law,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated. Iran’s remarks underline the importance of national sovereignty and the right of nations to self-determination.

Further emphasizing its stance, Iran called on the United Nations Security Council and UN Secretary-General António Guterres to address the perceived threat posed by U.S. actions, which they claimed could escalate tensions in the Caribbean.

This situation reflects the ongoing tensions surrounding U.S. foreign policy in Latin America, particularly concerning Venezuela, which is navigating its political landscape amidst continued external pressures.
