Iranian Forces Kill Eight Militants Following Deadly Police Attack

In a decisive counter-operation, Iranian security forces eliminated eight members of the militant group Jaish al-Adl in Sistan and Baluchestan province, following an attack that resulted in the deaths of five police officers, reports 24brussels.

The operation occurred in Iranshahr during the early hours of the morning on August 27, 2025. General Saeed Montazer al-Mahdi, a police spokesman, confirmed that units from the Law Enforcement Command collaborated with intelligence and security services to conduct the operation. In addition to neutralizing all eight militants responsible for the assault on the Daman police station, authorities seized a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition.

The assault on August 22 targeted two police patrols in the Daman District of Iranshahr, culminating in the tragic deaths of five officers. Jaish al-Adl later claimed responsibility for this attack.

This incident follows a similar attack last month when three Jaish al-Adl members targeted the provincial courthouse in Zahedan, killing six civilians, including a mother and her six-month-old child, while injuring 24 others.

Sistan and Baluchestan, which shares a border with Pakistan, has been a flashpoint for violence, frequently witnessing attacks against both civilians and security forces. Iranian officials have attributed the activities of militant groups in the region to foreign intelligence operations.

Last October, ten police officers were killed in a separate assault carried out by Jaish al-Adl in the Gohar Kuh district, marking one of the deadliest attacks in recent times.

This latest operation highlights the ongoing security challenges that persist in southeastern Iran, where Jaish al-Adl and other militant organizations continue to launch armed assaults targeting both police and civilians.
