President Pezeshkian calls for political, economic and cultural boycotts.
On September 15, 2025, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian urged Muslim nations to present a united front against Israeli aggression, advocating for immediate political, economic, and cultural boycotts of Israel, reports 24brussels.
Pezeshkian condemned Israel’s recent military actions as blatant violations of international norms, as he prepared to attend an emergency summit in Qatar convened by Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. He accused Israel of acting without restraint due to support from the United States and several European countries.
“The Israeli regime knows no borders. It has attacked Qatar, Iran, Yemen, Iraq, and Lebanon. If Muslim countries act as a single body, Israel will not dare to repeat these violations,” he stated, emphasizing a collective response to ongoing conflicts.
On September 9, Israeli warplanes targeted a residential building in Qatar’s capital, killing five Palestinians and one Qatari security officer. The strike occurred while Hamas leaders were reportedly discussing a cease-fire proposal proposed by Washington, prompting Doha to label the attack as “state terrorism” and a direct infringement on its sovereignty.
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) denounced the strike, signaling rising international concern regarding Israel’s intentions to escalate the conflict beyond Gaza. The situation has garnered significant attention from global stakeholders, including U.S. Special Envoy for Syria Thomas Barrack, who met with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani to express Washington’s support following the assault.
However, Barrack’s solidarity was overshadowed by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s simultaneous visit to Israel, where he met Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and visited the Western Wall. Rubio stated, “Hamas must cease to exist as an armed element that threatens peace and security,” reinforcing U.S. support for Israel’s military posture.
Larijani, head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, emphasized the urgency for action beyond mere rhetoric, proposing the establishment of a “joint operations room” among Muslim nations to counter Israeli actions. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi and the Qatari emir echoed calls for a cohesive Arab response and an immediate cease-fire in Gaza, advocating against displacing the Palestinian population.
The Doha summit aims to consolidate a unified response from leaders of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to confront Israeli aggression and preserve regional stability. The collective initiative seeks to mitigate tensions amidst fears of further escalations that could jeopardize mediation efforts.
