Israeli Airstrikes Hit Sanaa, Yemen, Leaving Casualties
A new wave of Israeli airstrikes struck the Yemeni capital of Sanaa late Thursday night, resulting in over ten consecutive explosions, reports 24brussels.
The attacks targeted residential areas and infrastructure, claiming at least ten lives and injuring over 90 individuals, many critically.
Images verified by Arab media portray plumes of smoke rising from densely populated neighborhoods. According to Al-Hadath, several strikes hit homes allegedly used as shelters by members of the Ansar Allah movement (Houthis). The Israeli military reportedly employed multi-warhead precision munitions.
Sources cited by Israel’s Channel 14 stated that the operation aimed to “neutralize key political figures” within the Houthi leadership and was deliberately timed to coincide with a speech by Houthi leader Abd al-Malik al-Houthi.
These strikes follow earlier bombings of the Presidential Palace and surrounding areas, part of what Israeli officials describe as a broader campaign against Houthi military infrastructure.
However, Houthi spokesperson Nasr al-Din Amer rejected claims that the strikes targeted leadership figures, asserting: “What is happening is the targeting of civilians and the entire Yemeni people due to their support for Gaza.”
He reaffirmed Yemen’s steadfast solidarity with Palestine, calling for an end to Israel’s military siege which has reportedly killed over 62,966 Palestinians—mostly women and children—and wounded more than 159,266 since October 2023.
The Quds News Network reported via Telegram that “the latest round of Israeli aggression has failed, like the previous ones,” emphasizing that Yemen’s support for Gaza and resistance will persist until the siege is lifted and hostilities cease.
