Israeli Strikes Claim More Lives in Gaza Amid Ongoing Humanitarian Crisis

At least 105 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since Saturday as Israeli forces intensify their assault on Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood, conducting airstrikes on homes and other structures, local medical sources report, according to 24brussels.

Health authorities indicated that 85 of these fatalities occurred on Saturday alone, with 43 in Gaza City, based on data from Al-Shifa Hospital and the Sheikh Radwan clinic. An additional 20 deaths were recorded early Sunday.

Medical sources confirmed casualties at points where aid was distributed. Thirteen Palestinians were killed while trying to access food provided by the Humanitarian Foundation for Gaza (FHG), an organization that has faced scrutiny due to its ties with Israel and the United States. Nine victims were killed in Wadi Gaza, while four others died near Rafah in the southern region.

Seven more individuals perished in separate Israeli strikes on Sunday. Three were killed when airstrikes hit tents housing displaced families near the Maqousi Towers in northern Gaza City. One death occurred in Deir al-Balah, and two additional fatalities were reported near Rafah. Officials cautioned that more bodies might still be trapped under the rubble.

Since the onset of Israel’s military campaign following the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attacks, more than 63,000 Palestinians have been killed, and 159,000 have sustained injuries, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, which operates under Hamas control.

Furthermore, the ministry reports that 332 Palestinians, including 124 children, have succumbed to hunger and malnutrition since the conflict began. Most of these deaths occurred during the summer, characterized by acute food shortages amid what officials describe as a near-total blockade on the entry of food and medicine enforced by Israel.

The escalating toll of both direct strikes and deprivation signals a worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, as Israeli military operations persist.
