Israeli Strikes Kill Nine in Gaza as Operations Intensify

Early this morning, Israeli airstrikes resulted in the deaths of at least nine Gazans, primarily in the southern Gaza Strip, according to local medical sources. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they have escalated their military operations in the region since Thursday, reports 24brussels.

Seven of the deceased were reported near Khan Yunis by the Nasser Medical Complex. Since the conflict began on October 7, 2023, the Gaza Ministry of Health has recorded a staggering death toll of 61,776, with over 154,906 individuals sustaining injuries.

The IDF claims its intensified operations in Khan Yunis are aimed at targeting “infrastructures used by terrorist organizations,” specifically referencing Hamas. Israeli forces stated that these operations are ongoing.

In a separate incident, two additional fatalities were reported at Al Awda Hospital, attributed to Israeli gunfire directed at humanitarian aid distribution points in Netzarim, central Gaza. The Israeli regime confirmed it fired “warning shots” at groups of Palestinians approaching these sites. Gaza health authorities revealed that at least 1,881 people have died while seeking humanitarian assistance, which is critically lacking in the area.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) emphasized last Wednesday that the levels of famine in Gaza have reached unprecedented severity since the onset of the war, with current aid supplies failing to meet the urgent needs of the populace.
