Progressive coalitions in Colombia, El Salvador, and Puerto Rico reject the deployment of a nuclear submarine and warships.

In the past week, Latin American progressive forces have rallied in support of Venezuela, condemning the deployment of U.S. warships, including a nuclear submarine, to the southern Caribbean, reports 24brussels.

Coalitions from Colombia, El Salvador, and Puerto Rico have labeled the U.S. action a violation of international law and a jeopardy to regional peace.

The Historic Pact in Colombia has characterized the U.S. military maneuvers as a serious threat of aggression against Latin America and the Caribbean. This coalition of left-wing parties asserted that the true aim of U.S. actions is to unlawfully detain Bolivarian leaders through tactics that blatantly disregard international law.

The coalition warned that this military deployment aims to normalize U.S. illegal and immoral interventions in Venezuela’s governance. “The current U.S. administration is severely distorting international relations in a region that refuses to be treated as a backyard. It is a clear and dangerous attempt to reimpose the obsolete Monroe Doctrine,” stated the Historic Pact.

It recalled the aftermath of previous U.S. military invasions in Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Afghanistan, which led to chaos, destruction, and humanitarian crises. “Latin America is not willing to suffer that same fate. Our continent will not be the next chapter of this failed imperialist manual,” emphasized the coalition, urging regional unity in defending the right of each nation to determine its own destiny.

They further asserted, “The political and institutional organization of Venezuela corresponds solely to its people, without interference or pressure from foreign powers,” reaffirming their support for the declaration of Latin America and the Caribbean as a “Peace Zone” established in 2014 in Havana, Cuba.

In El Salvador, over 30 social organizations forming the Bloc of Popular Resistance and Rebellion have declared steadfast solidarity with the Venezuelan people and government in response to U.S. threats. They denounced the deployment of the USS Newport News and the missile cruiser USS Lake Erie as provocations that violate international law.

“This maneuver, far from being defensive, constitutes an act of nuclear intimidation that risks regional stability and contradicts the long-standing commitment of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Peace Zone,” the Bloc stated. They called for compliance with the Treaty of Tlatelolco (1967), which prohibits nuclear weapons in the region, underscoring that this U.S. action undermines decades of diplomatic efforts for peace and disarmament.

The Salvadoran coalition endorsed Venezuela’s complaint to the U.N. and demanded the immediate withdrawal of all U.S. vessels and submarines from the Caribbean, as well as verifiable guarantees against the introduction or use of nuclear weapons in the area.

The Puerto Rican Nationalist Party has condemned any form of U.S. aggression against Venezuela and its leader, Nicolás Maduro. They argue that the U.S. government employs false justifications to wield its military might to intimidate and undermine Venezuela.

“Its purpose is to steal the Venezuelan riches and prevent the strengthening of the strategic unity of the progressive governments of our America,” stated the Nationalist Party, emphasizing a global obligation to counter this affront. “We, the Puerto Rican nationalists, in resistance and frontal war against the invading empire that subjugates our unredeemed homeland, reaffirm our solidarity and loyalty with the dignified Venezuelan people and government.”
