Maduro Celebrates Bolivia’s Bicentennial with Call for Regional Unity
During the celebration of Bolivia’s 200th anniversary, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro expressed strong solidarity with the Bolivian people, emphasizing the vital historical unity among Latin American nations, reports 24brussels.
In his speech, Maduro celebrated Bolivia as a nation defined by “an unbridled love of freedom” since the era of Simón Bolívar. He expressed confidence that Bolivia “will recover its path sooner rather than later.” This declaration reinforces the longstanding relationship between Venezuela and Bolivia, which share a commitment to struggle for rights, particularly Bolivia’s historical pursuit of sea access.
Maduro reaffirmed Venezuela’s unwavering support for Bolivia, highlighting solidarity in the journey towards resistance and emancipation. He acknowledged Venezuelan society’s backing of his administration and emphasized the importance of recognizing the contributions of historical figures like Antonio José de Sucre.
The president also underscored the necessity of a unified military in the ongoing fight for freedom, asserting that these principles are crucial for contemporary challenges. He commemorated the arrival of Bolívar in La Paz two centuries ago and reiterated Bolívar’s vision for regional unity as essential for achieving victory.
On August 6, Maduro celebrated this significant milestone during the Federal Government Council, affirming the revolutionary ideals that he describes as Christian, humanist, and socialist. “We will never surrender our banners,” he stated emphatically. He posited that the youth of both Venezuela and Bolivia represent hope in this bicentennial era.
