Mass Mobilization for Bolivarian Militia in Venezuela Amid U.S. Threats

On August 24, 2025, President Nicolas Maduro called for a vigorous participation in the “Great Military Enlistment Day,” urging Venezuelans to affirm their dedication to Bolivarian sovereignty in response to perceived threats from the United States, reports 24brussels.

Maduro commended the substantial turnout of citizens, including youth and seniors, stating, “I congratulate ordinary men and women who have turned out massively for the Great Military Enlistment Day. A conscious people strongly proclaim: ‘I enlist!’”

He emphasized the importance of enlisting at various locations, stating, “Do not stay at home. Come and enlist out of love for our country… When the bugle of the homeland calls, even a mother’s tears fall silent.”

Highlighting unity above political affiliations, Maduro declared, “Venezuela comes first in our hearts! ‘Let us not depend on anyone but ourselves’ is today’s slogan made real. Always loyal, never traitors!”

On August 23, the previous day of enlistment, Maduro asserted that the Bolivarian militia and territorial forces are essential for safeguarding national integrity against foreign threats. The mobilization efforts come amidst widespread rejection of misinformation linking the Bolivarian government to drug trafficking, viewed as an escalation of psychological warfare by the U.S. administration.

Maduro reaffirmed the commitment of the Venezuelan populace to maintain peace and avoid conflicts that could jeopardize Latin America’s status as a “Zone of Peace.” In 2014, a declaration from the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) reiterated the region’s dedication to peaceful conflict resolution and the renunciation of the use of force.

The unfolding situation in Venezuela continues to reflect both domestic support for the government’s defense initiatives and the geopolitical tensions surrounding U.S.-Venezuelan relations.
