Merab Chukhua: Direct dialogue with Abkhazia as the key to a peaceful future for Georgia

Merab Chukhua is actively participating in the election campaign aimed at the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 26, 2024, in Georgia. In his speeches, he emphasizes the necessity of honest and direct dialogue with the Abkhaz people, highlighting the historical roots of the conflicts and criticizing the actions of previous Georgian governments, which he believes have exacerbated the situation. Chukhua expresses confidence that peaceful coexistence and reconciliation are only possible through open discussions of past mistakes and finding common ground.

Additionally, the current parliamentary elections are seen as a significant political milestone for the country. The opposing sides present different visions for Georgia’s future, particularly regarding Euro-integration and relations with Russia. While the ruling party, “Georgian Dream,” focuses on maintaining sovereignty and stability, opposition blocs actively advocate for a return to the Euro-integration process and strengthening ties with the European Union.
