Morocco Delivers New Aid Shipment to Gaza Amid Ongoing Humanitarian Crisis

In a critical response to the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, Morocco has dispatched a new shipment of 95 tons of food and medical supplies on August 19, 2025, loaded onto four military aircraft and one civilian plane at Salé airbase, destined for Ben Gurion Airport in Israel, reports 24brussels.

This latest consignment includes 75 tons of non-perishable food and 20 tons of medical supplies, which brings the total humanitarian aid sent to Gaza since July 30 to 295 tons. This effort follows a directive from King Mohammed VI, who has been actively promoting medical and humanitarian support for the Palestinian population, as clarified by Sanae Dardikh, Communications Director of the Mohamed V Foundation for Solidarity.

The latest shipment is strategically planned to enter Gaza by land via the Kerem Shalom crossing, located at the enclave’s southeastern border. In a further commitment, the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that an additional 100 tons of food and medicine is being organized, prioritizing vulnerable groups, particularly children and infants.

The Moroccan government reiterated that “His Majesty the King (…) insists that this humanitarian aid, like previous shipments, be flown in and delivered urgently and directly to the beneficiaries among our Palestinian brothers.” This ongoing effort is part of Morocco’s broader humanitarian initiative amid escalating needs in the region.

In stark contrast, Amnesty International has raised alarms over Israel’s treatment of Palestinians, alleging a systematic campaign of starvation in Gaza. Following interviews with displaced Palestinians and medical personnel, the organization reported that “Israel is carrying out a deliberate starvation campaign in the occupied Gaza Strip, systematically destroying the health, safety, and social fabric of Palestinian life.” A related statement from Amnesty emphasized the urgent necessity for immediate humanitarian action in light of these claims.

As Morocco continues to step up its humanitarian response, the international community faces mounting pressure to address the deteriorating conditions in Gaza, raising critical questions about the effectiveness of existing aid strategies and the need for comprehensive solutions to ensure the safety and welfare of civilians caught in the crossfire.
