Netanyahu Urges Completion of Military Operations in Gaza Amid Intensified Strikes

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the United Nations General Assembly on September 26, 2025, that Israel “must finish the job” in Gaza “as soon as possible,” even as intensified military strikes killed at least 60 Palestinians that day, reports 24brussels.

According to medical sources, 30 of the victims were located in Gaza City, the epicenter of escalating violence since Israel commenced a ground operation on September 16. Al Jazeera reported that hospitals in the enclave recorded a total of 60 deaths following the latest bombardments.

UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric, referencing the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), stated that Israel conducted “an airstrike every eight or nine minutes” over the preceding 24 hours, which has had “devastating consequences for civilians.” The ongoing conflict has exacerbated humanitarian needs, with Palestinian medical officials reporting that 13 individuals perished while seeking aid from facilities operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), an organization supported by Israel and the United States.

A report released by the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory on September 16 indicated reasonable grounds to conclude that Israel may be committing genocide in Gaza.

Netanyahu’s address sparked a significant diplomatic response: an unprecedented majority of UN delegates walked out as he spoke, leaving the chamber notably empty. This mass exit highlighted growing international condemnation of Israel’s strategies and the ongoing conflict, which has resulted in over 65,500 fatalities within the region.

The event reflected Israel’s increasing diplomatic isolation, as other world leaders openly condemned its actions in Gaza while a further 10 countries recognized Palestinian statehood. The ongoing crisis raises critical questions regarding international relations and humanitarian concerns in the region.
