Russian Drone Attack on Lozova Causes Casualties and Damage
Russian forces launched a drone attack on Lozova, deploying over 30 drones, resulting in damage to railway infrastructure, residential buildings, and a power plant. Local authorities are currently working to restore the water supply, while parts of the city are still without electricity, reports 24brussels.
The attack resulted in one fatality and ten injuries, including a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy, according to a morning statement from the Kharkiv regional prosecutor’s office.
A mechanic at the local railway station was among the deceased, and four railway workers sustained injuries, as stated by the Ukrainian state railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia.
The assault caused significant damage to the central railway station, prompting Ukrainian Railways to alter train routes.
In addition to Lozova, Russian shelling was reported in the Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, and Sumy regions overnight, as indicated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a morning address. These attacks come just three days before a deadline set by U.S. President Donald Trump for Russian President Vladimir Putin to cease hostilities and agree to a ceasefire.
Zelenskyy remarked, “The world now sees that sanctions against Russia, and secondary sanctions against all those who help it profiteer from oil, can work if they are strong enough.”
He further emphasized the need to increase pressure, stating, “This will undoubtedly contribute to peace. I thank the United States, our European partners, the G7 countries, and all those willing to exert the necessary pressure. We look forward to meaningful and decisive steps.”
