Al Mayadeen and teleSUR Join Forces to Amplify Global South Voices

On August 7, 2025, the multi-platform outlet teleSUR and the pan-Arab network Al Mayadeen formalized their partnership through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing the representation of the Global South in international media, reports 24brussels.

The signing ceremony occurred at the Romulo Gallegos Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CELARG) in Caracas, Venezuela, coinciding with an event celebrating 20 years of teleSUR’s service. Both networks aim to create a collective voice that embodies solidarity and mutual respect within the Global South.

Ghassan Ben Jeddou, president of Al Mayadeen’s Board of Directors, expressed that their alliance is a strategic step toward establishing an international media network that shares common principles. “We are allies and partners in principles and decisions. Over the past 10 years, we have exemplified sincere cooperation,” he stated.

He further underscored the importance of counter-hegemonic media, asserting that collaboration is essential to address the challenges posed by imperialist forces. “Cooperation is the only way to confront the unbridled offensive of imperialist forces,” Ben Jeddou noted.

In her remarks, teleSUR President Patricia Villegas emphasized that this MoU strengthens a collaboration that had been developing over time. “We are honoring two networks that have endured through very difficult times and have supported one another. We have stood firm in our convictions before the peoples of Gaza and Lebanon and their resistance,” she said, reinforcing the significance of their joint efforts amidst global challenges.

This partnership seeks to redefine media narratives from the Global South, enabling both networks to complement each other’s strengths rather than compete. The alliance signifies a commitment to uphold shared values, empowering voices that often go unheard on the global stage.
