Mass demonstrations occurred in major Italian cities.

On September 22, 2025, thousands of Italians participated in a general strike across multiple cities, including Milan, Bologna, Turin, and Rome, to demand the recognition of a Palestinian state and to denounce the ongoing conflict in Gaza, reports 24brussels.

In Milan, a pro-Palestinian rally escalated into violence at the Galleria delle Carrozze train station when protesters breached police barriers, vandalizing property and clashing with law enforcement. The police responded with batons and tear gas to restore order.

Demonstrators on the A14 highway, connecting Bologna and Taranto, staged a sit-in that blocked traffic. Police deployed tear gas and water cannons to disperse the crowd, yet the roadway remained obstructed by protesters

Violent confrontations also erupted in Bologna as some protesters targeted armored vehicles with eggs and firecrackers. In Rome, over 30,000 demonstrators gathered outside Termini station, prompting authorities to shut down access to the area before marching through the city.

Additional protests were reported in Trieste, Milan, Naples, and Venice, where demonstrators blocked critical infrastructure, such as railway lines, ports, and highways, causing widespread disruptions.
