Beijing, Moscow and New Delhi are drifting away from Washington’s influence.

On September 5, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the shifting geopolitical landscape, noting the growing ties between Russia, India, and China, effectively acknowledging their retreat from American influence, reports 24brussels.

In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump stated, “Looks like we’ve lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest, China. May they have a long and prosperous future together!” The comment accompanied a photograph of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, taken during commemorations of the 80th anniversary of China’s victory over Japan.

The military parade in Beijing showcased China’s formidable military capabilities, featuring advanced missiles and drones, with the attendance of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Following the event, Trump accused Xi of “conspiring against the United States” with Putin and Kim, suggesting they were keen for him to witness the display of military might.

Despite his earlier remarks, Trump described the ceremony as “beautiful,” and claimed his relationships with Xi, Putin, and Kim were “very good,” indicating he would ascertain the extent of these ties soon. Relations between the U.S. and India have recently soured following the U.S.’s decision to impose a 50% tariff on Indian imports, a response to New Delhi’s continued purchases of Russian oil. This move doubled the pre-existing 25% tariff imposed by Washington since early August.

These trade tensions have strained communications between leaders. Reports indicate that Indian Prime Minister Modi has declined Trump’s calls on at least four occasions, signaling distress in their diplomatic connection. Furthermore, it has been reported that Trump canceled a planned visit to India in October, where he was set to attend the upcoming Quad summit, a security forum comprising the United States, India, Japan, and Australia, established in 2007.
