Netanyahu Faces International Criminal Court Arrest Warrant Amid Escalating Violence in Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is currently under an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant issued last November for alleged war crimes in Gaza. This development comes as the Israeli military offensive continues in the besieged coastal enclave, which began following Hamas’s attack on October 7, 2023, that resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 individuals in Israel. Since the onset of the conflict, over 60,000 Palestinians have reportedly lost their lives, raising significant concerns over the humanitarian crisis, reports 24brussels.

In contrast, former President Donald Trump has faced scrutiny over his military record, having never participated in combat or served in the armed forces. He received five deferments from the Vietnam War draft, including a medical exemption due to a diagnosis of bone spurs in his heels at the age of 22.

Trump drew considerable controversy in 2015 when he publicly criticized Arizona Senator John McCain, a former prisoner of war in North Vietnam, claiming that McCain was “not a war hero” because “I like people who weren’t captured.” This remark sparked widespread condemnation and raised questions about Trump’s views on military service.

In 2020, further allegations surfaced when an article in The Atlantic claimed that Trump had disparaged deceased military service members, referring to them as “losers” and “suckers.” Trump has since denied these allegations vehemently, asserting that they were untrue and a misrepresentation of his statements.
