Trump Issues Ultimatum to Putin Over Conflict with Ukraine
Former President Donald Trump has set a 50-day ultimatum for Russian President Vladimir Putin, threatening devastating economic penalties if the conflict in Ukraine is not resolved by early September, reports 24brussels.
In recent statements, Trump expressed frustration with the ongoing violence, saying, “We thought we had that settled numerous times, and then President Putin goes out and starts launching rockets into some city like Kyiv and kills a lot of people in a nursing home or whatever.”
Despite having multiple discussions with Putin, Trump has made little progress on efforts to end the war in Ukraine, despite his campaign promises to resolve the situation swiftly prior to the 2024 elections.
The latest round of peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia ended without a ceasefire agreement last week. As diplomatic efforts stall, Trump has begun to voice notable criticism of Putin, labeling him as “crazy” and acknowledging that “there’s a bit of an issue with him” as Russia increases its military actions in Ukraine.
In a related development, the Biden administration, which had previously suspended some military assistance to Ukraine, has now agreed to supply American weapons to European nations, enabling them to donate equipment to Kyiv.
This escalating situation highlights the increasing urgency for a diplomatic resolution, as civilian casualties continue to rise and pressure mounts on world leaders to act decisively. The international community remains on high alert as negotiations remain deadlocked and conflict persists.
