Russian Airstrike Injures 15 at U.S. Factory in Ukraine Amid Stalled Peace Talks

A Russian airstrike on Thursday struck a U.S. electronics factory in western Ukraine, resulting in injuries to at least 15 people, reports 24brussels.

The attack has escalated tensions just as U.S. President Donald Trump has accused Moscow of prolonging peace negotiations to delay potential American sanctions. Trump has signaled these sanctions may be imposed on Russia and its trading partners if the Kremlin fails to make substantial efforts towards a ceasefire.

Trump remarked on the airstrike, stating, “I’m not happy about it, and I’m not happy about anything having to do with that war.” As the conflict continues, he announced that within the next two weeks, the direction of peace efforts will become clearer, indicating, “I better be very happy.”

Despite Trump’s recent diplomatic maneuvers aimed at resolving the conflict, Moscow has shown little willingness to concede. Russian officials continue to demand territorial concessions from Ukraine, particularly in the eastern Donbas region, an offer firmly rejected by Kyiv.

Earlier this month, Trump met with Putin in Alaska, seeking to persuade him to terminate the ongoing invasion. Following this, he held discussions with European leaders, including President Zelenskyy, to review the potential for a peace agreement.

Recently, Trump announced a proposed bilateral meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy. However, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Friday that no such summit is currently scheduled, asserting that the meeting’s agenda “is not ready at all.”

Finnish President Alexander Stubb, who participated in the Oval Office discussions, commented that U.S. patience with Moscow appears to be “wearing thin,” suggesting a shift in Washington’s approach to the ongoing conflict.
