On July 21, Kyiv hosted the 29th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group — the international coalition known as the Ramstein format. Co-chaired by the United Kingdom and Germany, the gathering brought together representatives from more than 50 partner nations in a show of continued military and strategic support for Ukraine.
$43 billion pledged in 2025 — the largest amount since full-scale invasion
In 2025 alone, Ukraine secured over $43 billion in security assistance, marking the single largest annual package since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Partners emphasized that military support would continue at pace, including through the joint procurement of equipment from the United States to ensure timely delivery of critical assets to the front line.
The Ramstein format, established in 2022, has evolved into a cornerstone of collective Western military backing for Kyiv. Once viewed primarily as a recipient of foreign weapons, Ukraine is now an active participant in joint weapons production, signaling a deepening industrial and defense cooperation with NATO countries.
Western unity counters Russia’s disinformation
Each successive Ramstein meeting increasingly undermines the Kremlin’s persistent narrative that Western nations are “fatigued” and scaling back assistance to Ukraine. The robust turnout in Kyiv and record aid commitments contradict claims of declining support, reaffirming Ukraine’s status as a strategic partner in the long-term Euro-Atlantic security architecture.
As Ukraine continues to resist Russian aggression, this latest round of support highlights the West’s recognition that sustained military aid and industrial integration are essential to Kyiv’s defense and eventual victory.
