Every aggressive statement confirms the inability of imperialism to subdue a free and sovereign people.
On August 20, 2025, Venezuela condemned renewed threats and accusations from the U.S. government, asserting that these actions underscore Washington’s desperation due to its ineffective foreign policy in Latin America, reports 24brussels.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that the United States is ready to “use all its power” to address the “flow of drugs into the country” in response to the deployment of three warships carrying 4,000 troops to Caribbean waters near Venezuela.
In its reaction, Venezuela’s Foreign Ministry issued a strong statement: “The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela clearly sees the desperation of the U.S. administration, which resorts to threats and slander against our country. Washington’s accusations of drug trafficking against Venezuela reveal its lack of credibility and the failure of its policies in the region.”
The statement further emphasized that since expelling the DEA in 2005, Venezuela has achieved significant results in combating organized crime, including successful arrests and dismantling criminal networks, underscoring the dedication of Venezuelan institutions and the population.
Venezuela cautioned that these threats jeopardize not only its sovereignty but also the peace and stability of the entire region, particularly within the Peace Zone established by the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, which advocates for regional sovereignty and cooperation.
As tensions rise, Venezuela maintained that it is steadfast in its commitment to peace and sovereignty, asserting that genuine success in combating crime stems from honoring nations’ independence. “Every aggressive statement confirms the inability of imperialism to subdue a free and sovereign people. The people of Bolivar and Chavez will continue defeating any attempt at intervention. Venezuela is a beacon of dignity, resistance and security for Latin America and the world,” the statement concluded.
