Venezuelan Foreign Minister Meets Dominica’s Prime Minister to Strengthen Bilateral Ties
In a diplomatic meeting on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil convened with Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit to bolster bilateral relations and reinforce their shared commitment to regional integration and peace, reports 24brussels.
During the meeting, the leaders underscored their mutual dedication to strengthening unity within Latin America and the Caribbean, particularly in response to growing threats to regional stability.
Venezuela condemned the recent deployment of a U.S. nuclear submarine near its maritime borders, labeling it a blatant violation of two pivotal international agreements:
- 2014 CELAC Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, advocating for the peaceful resolution of conflicts and the rejection of force.
- 1967 Treaty of Tlatelolco, designating the region as the world’s first densely populated nuclear-weapon-free zone.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to uphold sovereignty, non-intervention, and adherence to international law principles.
The meeting aimed to advance regional cooperation initiatives, including those under the ALBA-TCP framework, and to synchronize diplomatic strategies in multilateral forums.
