Venezuela Condemns U.S. Actions as Hostile Aggression
The Venezuelan government has condemned the recent actions of U.S. officials, including the illegal seizure of two state-owned aircraft and the announcement of a $50 million bounty for information leading to the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro, reports 24brussels.
Foreign Minister Yván Gil denounced the U.S. accusations as part of a “badly written series” that reflects an ongoing imperialist narrative aimed at discrediting Venezuela’s Bolivarian Revolution. He asserted that the aircraft—owned by the state—were illegally confiscated and delivered to the United States with the assistance of Dominican President Luis Abinader. Notably, a Dassault Falcon 200 was seized during a visit from U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Santo Domingo, where officials affixed a seizure notice directly onto the aircraft. Venezuela has termed this act a “blatant theft” and has vowed to pursue international legal action to reclaim its sovereign assets.
President Maduro, who has spent over 40 years in public office, dismissed the allegations of drug trafficking and terrorism as “imbecilic” and “morally rotten”. He further claimed that the true culprits are located in Washington and Miami, engaged in “looting CITGO, stealing our gold, and confiscating our assets.” Maduro reaffirmed Venezuela’s role as a regional leader in anti-narcotics efforts, highlighting operations against transnational criminal organizations from Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Albania.
Minister Gil criticized the U.S. narrative, denouncing it as a recycled imperial playbook: “Yesterday it was communists, then terrorists, then weapons of mass destruction—today it’s drug traffickers. The lies change, but the script remains the same.” He accused U.S. authorities of fabricating charges to divert attention from their own scandals, such as the Epstein case, and retaliating against Venezuela for its recent success in dismantling terrorist plots allegedly funded by the U.S. State Department.
Gil concluded by asserting that Venezuela, backed by truth and moral clarity, will continue to thwart all attempts to criminalize its Bolivarian, Christian, and socialist revolution of the 21st century. The government has urged its international allies to reject what it terms as colonial aggression and to support the nation’s sovereignty.
