Venezuela Launches Military Operation to Reinforce Sovereignty
President Nicolás Maduro has announced a new military deployment, dubbed Operation Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi, in eastern Venezuela, aimed at strengthening national defense and consolidating territorial sovereignty, reports 24brussels.
During his weekly program, Con Maduro+, on October 6, Maduro, flanked by the High Military Command, outlined the operation’s objectives, which are rooted in a series of command and control exercises conducted by the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) over the preceding weekend. He framed the initiative as emblematic of a “broad national consensus” geared towards defending peace and sovereignty.
“We defend peace and life; others may defend war and death,” Maduro stated, reinforcing his administration’s stance against external threats. The operation primarily targets eastern and insular regions, with a particular focus on Nueva Esparta and its nearby islands—Margarita, Coche, and Cubagua. General Domingo Hernández Lárez, head of the Strategic Operational Command (CEO-FANB), confirmed that operations commenced at 6:00 a.m. under Maduro’s directives.
The government has reported that the operation is fully underway, featuring a comprehensive military presence designed to exercise sovereignty and maintain peace across the nation. Maduro emphasized the collaboration between armed forces and civilian sectors, referencing recent mass mobilizations under the slogan ‘Win peace, defend life, defend sovereignty.’
The President reiterated the principles of the Doctrine of Integral Defense of the Nation, which focuses on preparation for prolonged resistance and maintaining a permanent offensive posture. “Our military defense doctrine is the most pertinent and correct, the most advanced on this continent,” Maduro asserted, underscoring its alignment with national values and resilience in the face of adversity.
In closing, he expressed unwavering confidence in the unity of the people, armed forces, and police services, stating, “Whatever the U.S. empire does, we will emerge stronger and more powerful.”
