Venezuela Condemns Israel’s Actions and Criticizes U.S. Visa Denials for President Abbas
On September 22, 2025, Venezuela condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide and criticized the United States for denying visas to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and his delegation. This statement was made ahead of an international conference scheduled for Tuesday at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, reports 24brussels.
The Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Ministry stated that over 65,000 victims, predominantly women and children, have been reported since the escalation of violence in October 2023. The government characterized the situation as a humanitarian tragedy on par with historical atrocities, asserting the urgent need to end what it calls “illegal occupation” by Israel.
Venezuela reaffirmed its support for a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine. The announcement follows recent commitments from several nations, including the UK, Australia, Canada, and Portugal, to recognize the State of Palestine.
Despite this growing international support, the U.S. State Department’s refusal to allow Abbas’s participation is viewed as a significant infringement on multilateral diplomacy and international law principles. Venezuelan officials condemned this act as a conflict to the principles of solidarity and justice.
In a statement, Venezuela expressed its unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause, urging the global community to act decisively in support of peace and sovereignty for the Palestinian people.
