Venezuela Mobilizes in Response to US Military Threats
On August 22, Venezuelan Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez oversaw the Great Day of Enlistment and Call to the Ranks of the Bolivarian Militia, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to defending its sovereignty against perceived US interference, reports 24brussels.
Rodríguez commended the patriotic mobilization of Venezuelans, which she described as an expression of their right to self-determination and independence, rooted in the legacy of Bolivarian heroes. “We have seen an entire mobilization in factories, in production centers, in ministries,” she stated.
In what she characterized as a misguided attempt by the Trump Administration to undermine Venezuelan autonomy, Rodríguez noted the strong national support for President Nicolás Maduro and the Bolivarian process. She praised the active participation of workers rallying behind Maduro’s call to defend the nation’s history and independence.
Rodríguez reflected on Venezuela’s historical context, recalling past interventions and challenges, including attempted coups and acts of violence. She asserted that the Venezuelan people have learned to uphold peace and tranquility despite these threats.
The mobilization on August 22 filled Bolívar Squares across Venezuela as citizens responded to the call to enlist, showcasing unity and resistance within the framework of the Great National Plan for Sovereignty and Peace Simón Bolívar.
President Maduro reiterated that the true wealth of the nation lies in its moral heritage and called for collective national unity as Venezuelans confront potential US military actions in the Caribbean, which threaten the region’s peace.
