2025 Euro-Asia Economic Forum to Be Held in Xi’an
The 2025 Euro-Asia Economic Forum will take place in Xi’an, the capital of Shaanxi Province in northwest China, from September 23 to 25, focusing on enhancing regional cooperation with an emphasis on sustainable development, reports 24brussels.
Under the theme “Unleashing New Synergies in Eurasia, Co-Building a New Pattern for Sustainable Development,” the forum aims to showcase China’s modernization efforts and promote a new model of cooperation across the Eurasian region. Organizers expect high-level discussions concerning economics, trade, and cultural exchange, highlighting the importance of people-to-people connections.
Niu Kai, the vice mayor of Xi’an and a member of the Organizing Committee, noted that the forum will include 13 sub-forums covering topics such as industrial cooperation, rule-making, cultural exchange, technological innovation, and collaborative governance. Additionally, more than ten economic and trade activities are on the agenda, alongside the launch of a white paper on the Eurasian economy in relation to the Belt and Road Initiative.
Delegates are anticipated from Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member and observer states, as well as dialogue partners and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative across Central, South, and West Asia. This includes political leaders, ministerial officials, local governors, representatives from international organizations, ambassadors to China, multinational company executives, and academic experts.
First established in 2005, the Euro-Asia Economic Forum serves as a biennial platform for economic collaboration under the SCO framework. The 2025 installment marks its 11th session, co-hosted by the Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government, the SCO Secretariat, China Development Bank, Export-Import Bank of China, the SCO’s Good-neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Committee, and the China Science Center of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences.
By uniting governments, businesses, and scholars from across the Eurasian landscape, the Xi’an forum aims to bolster regional cooperation and promote sustainable development within the frameworks of the Belt and Road Initiative and the SCO.
